Jouer Tint in Honeysuckle

This post starts out on a sour note. The ONLY spot I know of in Vancouver to pick up Jouer products just switched from a retail store to online only, and they dropped Jouer from the lines they carry. Jouer is one of those brands that for whatever reason I am just drawn to, so it bums me out that I won’t be able to purchase from them anymore. While the store, Wishlist Boutique, was having their closing out sale, all Jouer products were 50% off. By the time I could make it to the store their selection was pretty cleaned out so I only left with one Jouer product.

Jouer Tint in the Shade Honeysuckle – $22.00 CAD

I say I can’t purchase from Jouer anymore like they’ve closed up shop, which is totally untrue. I can still buy online, however with the Canadian dollar being what it is… I’ll stay away from websites that only price in US dollars. This tint caught my eye mostly because I love cream face products, and the shade is a really bright peachy pink – something that was missing from my current collection.

As with all Jouer packaging, it’s really simple and straightforward. There’s no bulk, just exactly what you need. The actual formula is wonderful on these tints. The consistency is very creamy but not sticky at all and blends like a dream. Jouer describes the colour as a soft poppy peach, which I think is right on the money.

The colour is actually quite opaque which makes application easy peasy. It sets nicely as well, so you’re not left with any tacky bits on your cheeks. You could most certainly wear this on your lips with a little bit of balm underneath for a cute matchy matchy look. I like to apply it with the ELF Small Stipple Brush, and I find it lasts all day without wearing off or fading away.

Don’t mind my bangs. They’re pretty freshly cut so they haven’t learned the lay-down of the law just yet. They have a mind of their own.

It’s been a while! This whole adult thing really leaves you with zero free time. Having real bills to pay, including some pricey mechanic bills have really take away any sense of disposable income, so having material for this blog has fallen by the way-side. I’ve been busy plugging away and learning as much as I can in my first job that’s in my chosen career path, and of course spoiling my cat rotten. I figured I would share some bits I’ve picked up along the way, and hopefully get back into the swing of blogging.

So onto the stuff!! I picked up a few new Real Techniques brushes from the Bold Metals collection. I have the Tapered Blush Brush (300) and the Oval Shadow Brush (200). I am IN LOVE with the Oval Shadow Brush, it is absolute perfection and I’m wondering how I ever survived without it. The Tapered Blush Brush is really nice and soft, and I typically only use it when I’m applying a softer blush, as it tends to apply blush very specifically and precisely. I am in no way at all a make up professional, so I tend to go over board with deeper and darker blushes.

I also snatched up the Nails Inc Illuminator, after hearing some of my favourite YouTubers talk about this polish. It’s exactly what it sounds like, a light wash of opalescent polish that can be worn alone to make your nails look healthier, or over top of an existing polish to brighten the shade slightly. I like to wear it alone, and by using 3 coats your nails look like moonstones. It’s a fab polish that I think anyone and everyone could use.

I have been on the hunt for a mascara that’s cruelty free (obviously), effective, and most importantly, not 30 dollars. I picked up the Milani Runway Lashes Mascara at the grocery store, and I have to say I really like it. It somewhat reminds be of the Tarte Lights Camera Lashes, which I LOVE, while only costing 6 bucks. I am, however, slightly concerned as this product seems to have been removed from the Milani website. Let’s all cross our fingers it hasn’t been discontinued.

Right in the thick of having some car trouble, I was feeling sorry for myself so I went out and bought the NARS Single Eyeshadow in the shade Ashes to Ashes. Because the only logical reaction to having to spend all your paycheque at the mechanic is to spend MORE money on something you probably don’t need… right? This shade is described as ‘shimmery violet based brown’ and I think that’s quite spot on. It’s the perfect all over lid shade that’s appropriate for the office for day time.

I don’t quite recall the occasion, but my boyfriend turned roomie picked up the Charlotte Tilbury Swish and Pop Blush in the shade Love is the Drug for me on a whim. What can I say about this blush that hasn’t already been said? It’s beautiful, looks like a boob, the packaging is delicious. Did I mention that it looks like a boob? Good.

Last but not least, I have been loving the Milani Colour Statement Lipstick in the shade Pretty Natural. It’s a gorgeous, feels great on the lips, and leaves a nice pretty stain behind. Perfect for the office, or for an effortless look.

To make up for the time away, I’d like to introduce you to my cat!

This is my sweet little angel: Pud. We adopted her about 3 weeks after my boyfriend and I moved in together and I am obsessed with her. We adopted through the organization VOKRA (Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association). VOKRA is awesome! They don’t have any shelters at all, the cats are in foster homes while they wait to be adopted. When I met Pud I knew she was the one. She was a stray in a neighbouring community, and when they found her they said she was terribly skinny. To their surprise she popped out a litter of kittens two days after she was rescued. Her foster mom said she was a wonderful mom, and all of her kittens were adopted straight away. She was in her foster home for a year and a half (!!!) before I met her and scooped her up. She is an absolute love bug and I can’t even express how much I love her. She’s napping right next to me as I type this. She’s 4 years young and I am SO thrilled to have her forever.

Fall Favourites Tag

I’m alive!

It’s been a while and I won’t make excuses. Between moving and adopting a cat, I’ve had my hands full. Downtime seems to just disappear, but when I saw that my lovely friend April from Blushing Biddies tagged me to do the Fall Favourites Tag, I knew this would be the post to bring me back! Fall is my favourite season by far. It’s filled with so many lovely things. So without a massively long ramble session, let’s get into the questions!

DSC_0004

Favorite Candle

I’m going to be super lame on this one and just say I don’t have one. I used to love the Leaves Bath and Body Works candle, but as we all know they turned out to not be cruelty free, and I haven’t stepped food in a B&BW store since. I would LOVE to hear any cruelty free recommendations on candles that are easily accessible. My apartment needs delicious smells!

Favorite Lip Color

I have a love for vampy, beautiful lips on other people, but I’m afraid I’m a huge scaredy-cat when it comes to pulling off a fully opaque dark lip. It’s one of those ‘good for you, not for me’ type of things. This Fall so far I’ve been loving the NARS Satin Lip Pencil in the shade Rikugien. It’s super easy to apply and lasts a really long time. It’s a rosey pink shade that’s a ‘my lips but rosier’ type of shade. Other notable mentions go to the Bite Beauty lipstick in the shade Fig, and the Bite Beauty Lush Lip tint in Raspberry.

Favorite Drink

Nothing screams Fall to me more than a Chai Latte made with almond milk. Absolutely delicious and festive!

Favorite Blush

Right when the leaves start to fall, I reach for the Hourglass blush in Mood Exposure. It’s a neutral plummy blush that pairs well with a bronzy eye and a bold lip. I also really love the Too Faced Cream Blush in the shade Sweet Pea if I’m really going for that ‘just came in from the chilly outdoors and oh my look at me I’m blushing’ type of look. Another favourite is the Josie Maran Gel Blush in the shade Berry Bliss.

Favorite Clothing Item

Ankle boots and scarves scream fall to me.

Favorite Fall Movie

Is the Nightmare Before Christmas considered a Halloween movie or a Christmas movie? I guess I’ll just watch it in November and call it even? I vividly remember the first time I watched it at my babysitter’s as a small kid, and I’ve loved it ever since.

Favorite Fall TV Show

I’m about to bust out the Canada card. I always know it’s Fall when hockey season starts. It’s technically on TV so it totally counts, right? I mean I’m watching hockey as I type this right now. I have the unfortunate curse of being an Oilers fan. If you know nothing about hockey, just know they haven’t made the playoffs in just under 10 years, and have been the worst team in the league multiple times over. It’s been a long, torturous road, yet I can never seem to give up on them.

Favorite Thanksgiving Food

Canadian Thanksgiving is in October, so I’ve already had the pleasure of stuffing my face with mashed potatoes. Those are by far my favourite thing about Thanksgiving dinner.

Favorite Halloween Costume

There was a year I went as a carton of milk. It’s ironic now because I’m lactose intolerant. But I made the whole costume (with the help of my dad) out of cardboard boxes and painted the whole thing. It got pretty awesome reactions from houses I trick-or-treated at. The only downfall was that I was wearing a cardboard box and my arms were basically at a 90 degree angle all night!

If you haven’t been tagged to do this Fall tag, and want to do it, I’d love to tag you to answer these questions!
