2 Chic Deep Conditioner

Will I ever be satisfied with a deep conditioner for my hair? Probably not. I’ve been using the variety from OGX for some time and have always enjoyed the results, however I have never been wowed, so I decided to give a new deep conditioner a shot.

2 Chic by Giovanni Ultra Moist Deep Deep Moisture Mask – $8.99 CAD

I’ve actually been using this deep conditioner for quite some time. I have a tube sitting in my boyfriend’s shower that’s been there for about a year as I don’t wash my hair there very often. Once I ran out of my OGX conditioners at my own house, I decided to switch up to the 2 Chic offering because I was always happy with how my hair felt when I washed my hair at my boyfriend’s place.

The packaging is great, as the snap closure rests on the bottom, so all the product naturally gathers to the squeeze opening, so you’re not struggling to get product out in the shower, or trying to screw on the top of a tub. There’s only 5oz of product, which is less than the 6.7oz of product you get in the OGX deep conditioners in the squeeze tube packaging, the tubs have 5oz. The packaging is really sturdy and I’ve never had an issue with it. How I use this product is the second I get in the shower, the first thing I do is shampoo my hair, I then put a very generous amount of the deep conditioner through the mid-lengths and take special care to coat the ends of my hair, tie it up in a bun, and go about my shower. At the end I take it down and rinse thoroughly. I should also mention that I only wash my hair twice a week, and this has really gotten my hair to be super healthy. I obviously didn’t go from washing it every other day to twice a week instantly, it was a process of weaning my hair off shampoo over the course of about 6 months.

As for the actual product, I really love it. It’s a green conditioner with little darker green beads in it that are supposedly full of avocado oil to add extra moisture. I find this deep conditioner keeps my hair feeling really soft and nourished, I do get quite a few compliments on my hair, but I think that’s just because it’s super long and relatively healthy as I don’t colour it and always use a deep conditioner. The product does take an extra minute to rinse out, which I don’t find with the OGX conditioners, but I think it’s well worth it because my hair always feels really replenished. Overall I would really recommend this product.

Replenished Locks

** Update: OGX, formerly Organix, is no longer cruelty free

I recently took the plunge and chopped off most of my hair. My hair was getting to be incredibly long, almost to my waist, and I had decided I didn’t want all that fuss for the summer, so it now sits just below my collar bone, a perfect length I think. My hair gal is super lovely and really stylish, as well as being really kind and always takes my input to heart. I usually just tell her to do whatever she thinks is best: that’s real trust, ladies and gents! I’ve been going to the same woman for probably 6 or 7 years so I always know she’s got my best interests in mind. I’m not one of those people who’s sentimental over their hair, probably because my hair legitimately grows like a weed. With my freshly cut locks, I want to keep my hair as healthy as possible, this means hair treatments in the shower, and I wanted to share my current deep conditioner.

Ogx (Formerly Organix) Sea Mineral Moisture Surge Deep Treatment – 8.99 CAD

I go through deep conditioners like water. My hair is the type that can handle a lot of product and not be weighed down or become sticky, so I use a deep conditioner in place of a regular one. What I do is I place a normal conditioner at the ends of my hair, I then shampoo my roots, then apply the deep conditioner for 5-ish minutes. I picked this particular mask up because I was sick of the process of using a deep conditioner in a tub. I find it so inconvenient to have to try and screw the top back on while I’ve got product on my hands, it just seems really impractical. The scent on this product is really nice and spa like, I can’t quite put my finger on it, it’s not overly floral per say, but its really light and lingers on the hair.

I apply a golf ball amount to the ends of my hair after I’ve shampooed, then tie my hair up in the shower while I shave my legs or wash my body. Once my shower is almost up, I take down my hair and rinse the product out. I find it rinses out really easily and leaves my hair nice and nourished. It definitely compares to any other deep conditioners in the Ogx line, as well as some cruelty free, and non-cruelty free, brands I’ve tried. Great for every wash for my type of hair. I’ve got fine hair… but so much of it, it’s unbelievable, that’s very curly and tangly.

April Mini Haul

I went to the local grocery store the other day to pick up some oatmeal for breakfast, only to find my cart full or beauty products. Does this happen to anyone else? Or am I the only one who lacks any kind of self control? Regardless, here are the beauty bits I picked up!

Organix Coconut Milk Instant Repair Treatment – $8.99 CAD

My hair is pretty long and thick and the ends need a clean up very badly. As my hair can handle a deep conditioner as a substitute for a regular conditioner on a daily basis, I picked up a new variety of the Organix deep conditioner. I actually just used it, and so far I think it’s done a good job. Previously I was using the Organix Argan Oil version, which got the job done, however I was never super impressed. I think I prefer the Coconut Milk formulation a bit better, but I’ll need to test it out a bit more to fully form an opinion.

Avalon Organics Lavender Luminosity Facial Cleansing Milk – $13.50 CAD

My current cleanser, The Body Shop Aloe Calming Cleanser, is just about done, and I wanted to try a more natural cleanser. I felt as though the Body Shop cleanser, while being really gentle, didn’t make my skin feel super clean. I can’t really tell if it’s doing it’s job. While it doesn’t irritate or dry out my skin, I’m not 100% sure it’s thoroughly cleansing my skin. So I picked up Avalon Organic’s cleanser, and am super excited to try it out. I love lavender, so it should be a hit.

NYX Le Frou Frou Mascara – $8.99 CAD

My Tarte ‘Lights Camera Lashes’ mascara is starting to dry out a little, so I figured I would be proactive and get a back up. I have no idea what to expect with this mascara, but I will most definitely dedicate a blog post to it once I form an opinion. From the reviews I’ve read, Le Frou Frou (I feel ridiculous typing the name) seems to be the best of the boudoir collection of mascaras NYX released, only time will tell.

That’s it for my cheeky grocery store haul, have you tried any of these products?
