Face of the Day – Simply Spring

Is anyone else just totally inspired by the fresh new season? I don’t know what it is but this Spring feels like the first time I’ve seen sunlight in my life. I was inspired by the sunshine to do a quick and simple face of the day.

FACE & LIPS

Once the weather warms up I like to try and use the fewest amount of products possible. My skin was behaving so I just used the Jouer Matte Moisture Tint in the shade Porcelain as my base. Since my skin has become more dry I find I don’t even need a powder to set this product. I added some brightness to my face with the Milani Coral Cove blush using the Real Techniques Duo Fiber Face Brush for a soft finish. To match I quickly put on the Bite Beauty BB for Lips in the shade Flushed. I think the lip colour complimented the blush quite nicely, if I do say so myself.

EYES

Eyes, as per my usual, were kept simple. I used the shade Skimp (the lightest) from the Urban Decay Naked 2 Basics palette all over my lid with the Eco Tools Blend and Smudge Brush, and then fanned the shade Frisk (third from the left) through my crease with the Real Techniques Angled Shadow Brush. A quick one two punch that I find I can always go-to when I’m in a rush or just downright lazy. I added a little nude liner (the NYX Wonder Pencil) to my waterline, and added mascara from Pur Minerals… my absolute holy grail. For my brows, I used the shade Undone (the darkest) from the same palette on my Tarte Shape Shifter Double-Ended Bamboo Brow Brush, and sealed all that powder in with the essence Brow Gel.

I feel like this would be a great face for when you’re out and about in the sun. I’ve got all my SPF needs covered, and have the ability to sweat and not have make up literally all over my face.

March 2015 Favorites

I know everyone always says that the months just fly by but I seriously feel like March didn’t even happen. It was a crazy month, between helping my boyfriend move, to starting a new position at one of my jobs, to road tripping down to Seattle. There was not a lot of downtime this past month. Regardless of how fast time flies, there are always beauty favorites.

A pretty tame collection here, but these are all total gems!

For make up, I kind of stuck to some of my all time favorite products. One being the Josie Maran Coconutwater Cheek Gelee in the shade Poppy Paradise. This blush is just the easiest thing to slap on and look amazing. It pairs great with no make up looks or more polished and refined looks. Any situation and this blush looks natural and beautiful. I also was all over my BECCA Pressed Foundation in the shade Shell. My skin has been really really good, so all I need is this powder with light to medium coverage and I’m set on the foundation front. March was also the month I bought a new tube of my favorite mascara of life: the Pur Minerals Impact+ mascara. I will never not have amazing things to say about this mascara. It is just the most effortless, easy mascara to apply. It never clumps up or looks spidery, and gives added length and volume. Lastly I used the shade ‘Merci You Later’ from the Tarte Bon Voyage Palette a lot. Like every day. It’s my favorite all over the lid one and done eyeshadow.

Bath and body wise I have used the Desert Essence Jojoba Oil for everything. Literally everything. Eye make up remover, hair oil, facial oil, on rough patches, this stuff does it all. Jojoba oil doesn’t mess with my skin or clog it up at all which I totally appreciate. I also had been using my very old Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub a ton this month. My lips for whatever reason have been really dry so I’ve been trying to keep the dry patches at bay. Last but not least every time I wore the Body Shop Nail Polish in Frosting Fancy I got a compliment. It may take 3 coats to be truly opaque but all is forgiven for such a beautiful pale pink.

Onto April!

5 Minutes 5 Products

It’s happened to all of us: you totally forgot to set your alarm and you’ve woken up 10 minutes before you need to leave. The amount of times this has happened to me is getting ridiculous, so I feel as though I have some expertise in the area of 5 minute make up looks. To add an extra twist into the mix, I limited myself to just 5 products.

Whats important is to quickly assess your strengths and weaknesses. Liquid eyeliner? Don’t even think about it. Contouring? Are you nuts? Always… always stick to your guns and use products you know are fool proof. Also know what you need to do, and what you can skip. My skin was good so I skimped out on base products, but my brows always need attention. It’s all about compromising when you’re in a pinch.

For foundation I always go with the product that needs the least amount of TLC. For me this means the BECCA Pressed Foundation in the shade Shell. Literally all you need to do is buff it in with a Real Techniques Buffing Brush and your skin tone is completely evened out. I filled in my brows with the Amazonian Clay Waterproof Brow Mousse in the shade Medium Brown because it also doubles as a brow gel. Products with multiple uses are the smartest option for quick make up looks. The BECCA Beach Tint in the shade Grapefruit was another multi-use product for me, as I used it as my blush and lip colour. To finish things off I used the Lush Cream Eyeshadow in the shade Sophisticated all over my lid, and just blended it out with my finger. This product is fool proof and makes it look like you put way more effort into your look than you actually did. Lastly I defined my lashes with the Pur Minerals Impact+ Mascara that I am in love with.

It’s not the fanciest look of all time, but it gets the job done and gets you out the door in the least amount of time. Of course we can all leave the house without make up on and feel confident and beautiful, but some situations call for a more polished appearance, and that’s when a look like this comes in handy.
